Listening to your body.

My mom and I had a super raw and frank conversation recently about my health. To be honest with all of you, I haven’t been feeling great. The migraines have been plaguing me again almost daily for almost two weeks now. I can’t seem to focus very much on anything. Brain fog is thick most of the time and after every meal I get so tired . . . Naps aplenty and exercise? Yeah I don’t know her.

Depression and anxiety have been sticking to me like an annoying sand burr too. All of the physical symptoms—joint pain, back pain, cramps, etc, etc.— added up and I felt like drowning.

And to top it all of with an extra “sweet” cherry on top of this awful sundae, I was taking all the supplements and pills my doctor had prescribed . . . Yet I was feeling worse instead of better.

Once I laid it all out on the table, we came to a startling realization. I needed to listen to what my body was screaming at me.

And spoiler alert: it’s not happy with me.

Here’s the thing. In all my research into fibromyalgia, I’ve discovered that the most common mistake that doctors do with us is put us on detox too soon. The fact is is that we detox HARD. And our bodies our so stubborn that by the end of a painful and long and hard detox . . . We usually end up back where we started. Barely detoxing if any at all.

So we’ve decided to take a break from the detox side of things and hope and pray that I’ll start to feel better again . . . Especially with the Holidays approaching.

I encourage you to listen to your bodies, share with your support system, and to consider prayerfully what you might need to change in your life. I know I am.

I’m hopeful that the changes I’m starting to implement will able me to continue with Nanowrimo amongst other things.

‘Till next we meet.

  1. Thank you for sharing about your health! It’s especially a blessing for those of us who deal with similar things. I hope you are feeling much better now and have gotten more writing done. But, don’t push yourself! I’m praying for you!

    Hugs,

    1. *hugs back* thank you for saying that! You are so welcome, I hope to continue to be open about my journey :D . I took last week off of blogging and writing all together—it was hard but I knew I had too— so that I didn’t burn out completely :/ , thank you so much for the prayers, they are so valued!
