Happy New Year Scribblings!!
I’m so excited about this year. Last year was really rough and hard BUT we found a church home, joined the choir, found new friends, volunteering in nursery/2-3’s, and I got quite a bit of writing done compared to previous years! I definitely ended the year with some good notes in the midst of a horrible symphony.
I find that in order not to get into a depressive episode I HAVE to focus on the good that happened after I vent about the bad. That’s why every day I try to write 3 things I’m grateful for in my journal .
Some things I’m excited for this year:
- Doing an elimination diet! (in just a week or so!!)
- Developing friendships (Those I already have had and those I’ve just made!)
- Holding more babies and helping out with the toddlers <3
- Writing!!! So much writing!!
- Maybe finishing Starry Subject this year?!
- Reading. So much reading. I want to read sooooo much this year
- Loosing weight and being able to get new clothes that match my style more (And yes new cardigans will be added to my dragon hoard ;P )
- Heidi having puppies!!!
- Doing more art and even selling paintings online or at art fares!
- The Diamonds conference(s)! (Chronically Ill Christian women online conference)
- Kings Daughters Writing Camp(s)! (An online month long ‘camp’/nanowrimo alternative for writers to gather and write together.)
- Gardening and expanding my houseplant empire *evil laughter*
Those are a few of the things I’m excited for/to do this year. What are some of yours?
Below are my two teapots that I just love. Years back my Grandma took me and my sister in law Lauren to the antique mall and asked us what we collect. (My Grandma collects fancy tea cups, fancy ladies, mustache cups, chocolate pots, etc.)
She wanted to bond and know what to look for-for stocking stuffers and other gifts. I remember sharing a look with my sister and we were like: “We collect books, Grandma.”
She wasn’t amused, lol.
Now years later I’ve finally come up with an answer for her other than books and bookmarks.
Unique teapots.
I’ve seen teapots that look like typewriters, an artist easel, books, and other fun houses/shops. They are adorable and I actually like using them on occasion.
Another thing I will tend to collect are cute figurines such as these two:
So now my Grandma has some things to look for when she goes antiquing and I know a bit more about my taste, .
What sort of things do you collect/think you would collect?
Alright we’ve arrived to the ‘Some things that help’ section of this blog post!
Hear me out: Oodies.
Just. Oodies. I got this beauty for Christmas and it’s a knock off of the nearly $80 Oodie. It’s only $25 and it’s bliss to my nearly always cold self.
Allowing yourself to rest.
Yes I know sometimes you can’t BUT sometimes you can and choose not to because you feel like you haven’t earned the rest. What I’ll do if this happens often is ask my mom’s opinion (by being nearly 100% upfront with everything going on with pain and or what’s plaguing my mind/body) or tell her to tell me to go rest. (I use this method often for getting up to get water, take pills, eat, do things I’m struggling to do, and go to the bathroom.)
For some reason having her or someone else confirm what I’m telling myself/my body is screaming for me to do allows my gremlin brain to let me do said thing.
I know, it’s weird. But give it a try, you might be surprised.
Listen if you have stomach issues hear me out.
Lemon water.
Half a lemon in a glass of water—I use some stevia glycerine for sweetener—once a day every day. I like to drink it before I eat and after a few days I notice that it’s helped my nausea and has cut some of the pain I experience at my first meal down by nearly 1/2.
(I usually get stomach pain the first meal of the day no matter what I eat/time I eat it.)
Welp that’s all from me today! May your New Year resolutions be achievable and may your health get better. <3
‘Till next we meet.
