So this is a new series I’m starting on this blog! Kind of a “look book” of things I really enjoyed/were good for me last month . Touching on things I did, things I wore way too much (lol), books/media I consumed, etc.
So to start things out let’s talk about my socializing!
My Sunday School group went bowling together! Well, most of us. Two of our group couldn’t make it, but we had a fun time together!
The guys had their own lane and us girls had our own. Did we score well at all? Ummm not really. Well I got a strike once! . . . Otherwise personally I didn’t do all that well, . But it was a fun night full of great conversations and mediocre bowling
My second big socializing event was the virtual conference for chronically ill folk ”Diamonds” . It was such a great 3 days filled to the brim with fabulous speakers and fun chatting in the live chat
This is a virtual conference that comes around I believe twice a year. Once in January and once in June. If you are chronically ill or want to learn more about chronically ill folk and their stories and struggles, I’d highly recommend joining in next conference. (I will definitely share once it’s sign up time again!)
My favorite speaker this time around was Anna Kowlessar. My biggest takeaway from her session was: “Is it a Can’t or a Won’t”? (I’ve linked her website, definitely go check her out!!)
To wrap up my socializing, I got to get together with my life long friend Meaghan. She and her husband shared some very exciting news and I’m so happy for them. I also worked in the Nursery at church three times and I didn’t get sick!! I got a flare up but that was worth it to hold the babies.
Above are some pictures I’ve taken this month of some of my pets! I’ve started to exercise more and more and I’ve been challenging myself to at least take a morning walk or do a yoga session before the morning is gone.
As you can see I was able to take Finn on a walk! The boy looooved it and Heidi was so jealous. (Don’t worry, I played fetch with her afterwards.) He loved watching the chickens and gazing majestically at our neighbors cattle.
Some of the media I’ve been consuming!
Books:
I read through one book this month and that was Catching Christmas by Terri Blackstock.
Gosh this was a fun read but I did not expect the gut punch of grief in the middle and end. It ended happy but bittersweet. A great Christmas book but Trigger Warning if you are triggered by grief and the loss of a loved one.
Manga/WEBTOON:
I’ll be honest I read quite a bit of these. Some are guilty pleasures like crappy romances, but a lot our found family/waking up in a fantasy world.
Here are my top three I read this month (these were ones I’ve read a bit before.)
I am a child of this House. This manga is soooo good!! We follow a girl named Pink Eyes who is suddenly thrust into a family she didn’t know she had. Join her as she learns how to be part of this frightening family and how she grows in love and in power. This is a full colored manga translated from Korean I believe.
Fairly clean with very few curses. There is a magic system as it is a fantasy world.
I became the Male Lead’s adopted daughter. Gahhhh! This one has my heart!! I laugh out loud every time I read it and it’s so stinking good. We follow Leo as she is adopted by the fearsome Duke of the North. The Duke wants a child due to his Best Friend gushing over and over about fatherhood and now he wants to try it out!
This manga is full of father-daughter bonding and it has such a great storyline. This is a fully colored manga translated from Korean.
Fairly clean although there are a few curses and a few F words but not many at all. There is some magic as it is a fantasy.
How to be a Dark Hero’s daughter. Again this is a great one!! We follow a homeless girl as she becomes involved with a Duke who serves his country as a vigilante! It is a mystery mixed with wholesome family cuteness. Highly recommend. Prepare for cuteness.
Fully colored, translated from Korean I believe. Fairly clean with little to no cursing.
Games:
Honestly the biggest one I’ve sunk my time into this January was Genshin Impact! I worked hard to get Ayato ( a character on a limited time banner) and after that I was a bit burned out until yesterday where I started and completed all of Lantern Rite! (A in game event with mini games and quests.)
It was fun and this scene above made me laugh out loud due to the passive aggressive ways Venti and Zhongli made jabs at each other all while pretending to not know each other .
My Art and Writing:
2k writing done in Starry Subject. (I use Scrivener on my Ipad for my writing.)
The above painting. (I use Procreate on my Ipad for all my digital art.)
Other:
Clothing: I will be honest and show you a pic of the most used piece of clothing from last month. My oodie knock off I got for Christmas!! I love this thing and highly recommend you get one.
Food: I’ve been eating TONS of rice but my favorite is short grain white rice right now! It’s so good and yummy. Highly recommend.
I’ve also been dehydrating my own fruit for yogurt bowls. You take 12 oz of berries of your choice, (if using frozen fruit let them thaw completely) pulse them in a food processor 6 or so times, mix in 1-2 tsp of melted coconut oil and 1/3 cup of monk fruit. Then you place in a dehydrator(I use our ninja foodie) on 150 degrees for around 4-5 hours.
And that’s a wrap! This was a fun post to put together and I hope you enjoyed it as well . Let me know what media you consumed this past month! You’re favorite or least favorite, I’d love to know.
‘Till next we meet.
